How do I get my 15 month old to wear his nebulizer mask?
Sunday, October 5th, 2008 | Asthma Treatment
He fights it the whole time we are trying to do a treatment. I try to hold his hands, but I can’t keep both his hands together and deal with the make too. I have to find a way to do this by myself.

You should put it on first to show him that there isn’t anything to be scared of make a game out of it and she how he reacts to it then good luck

When my son was small we just held it lightly over his mouth and nose. Could even do the treatments while he was asleep. Never bothered having him “wear” it till he was 2 1/2.

Both my children age 4 yrs, and 11 months have asthma. Till they get old enough to be patient enough with the mask, I suggest using the other method of blowing it in their face. They have done this in the hospital when they are asleep, or when my 11 month old was in the hospital at 3 months old.

I am a respiratroy therapist. When a child comes into the ER I either use the blow-by method. This is done by simply blowing the neb by his mouth and nose, or there is a mask that has a dinosaur on it and they kind of treat it as a halloween mask. I do have a frequent pediatric patient come in and it is a huge task every time. Good luck!!
