mild asthma??
Sunday, October 26th, 2008 | Asthma Treatment
ok, so i’m nearly 14 and have never been diagnosed with asthma. But anytime i try to do cardio work outs (and also, i’m not in bad shape) i have problems breathing, my throat tightens up and i start coughing uncontrollably. Sometimes, i’ll cough up mucus.
is this some sort of mild asthma that could have never been diagnosed or is it something else?

It sounds like it could be. You might have a doctor check you out to be sure. If it is they will give you meds to control it.

There is something called excercise induced asthma, which sounds like what you might have. Next time you are at the doctor mention this to him/her and see if there is anything that you need to do. My daughter had this when she was younger and it didn’t prevent her from participating in all sorts of sports.

As a person with Severe asthma myself, These symptoms are those of asthma. You may be experiencing mild asthma. How often do you get it, Does it go away? These are the things that you need to think about! You should talk to your doctor or go onto the asthma UK site. It is extremely helpfull - the best way to find out what is going on. Let me know how things go on!
Thanks
good luck

I am NOT a doctor but your symptoms sound like you have exercise induced asthma. LOTS of people have it and you are NOT alone.
I had it when I was your age way back in 1968.
The medications back then were not as good as they are now but I made it and even played sports.
See your doctor. He/she can get you on the road to having a GREAT life even with asthma.
Good luck!
