Adult Asthma?
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 | Asthma Treatment
Hi my Aunt developed asthma after moving from Mexico to California. Recently it has gotten worse. She has developed a persistant cough and constantly has problems breathing. She has an inhaler but it is ineffective. Her doctors are not sure how to cure her or at least provide some relief. Could it be the air quality in California? She never had an asthma attack once in Mexico. Has anyone experienced something like this? Thank you for you help in advance.

People who have bad asthma often move to warmer and dryer climates where there are less allergens . Her moving to California has probably triggered a condition she has already because of the more allergen’s and poorer air quality. Has she tried any medications like Singulair or some of the other ones used to prevent it before it starts? there are also steroid meds and stuff - both oral and inhaler kind that can help a lot. I hope she can find relief soon!

The move probably did have something to do with it but it might not be California necessarily. Has she checked her house for mold? Not the normal mold you see on the bathroom but the kind that lives under the house or in the ceiling or behind the walls. This type of mold can cause serious allergic reactions. I am in no way saying anything bad about your Aunts housekeeping but Roach Dust also causes severe allergic reactions in some people. If the person who lives near her or lived in her house before had or has an infestation it could be causing her problems too. There are lots of meds available to help her cotnrol her asthma. There are things like Singular, Advair, Pulmicort, etc. There is NO cure for asthma but it can be MANAGED with medications. Hope she finds the culprit and feels better soon.

There could be mold in her house. Mold is a very common allergen. Tell your aunt to go to Asmenex.com and go to trigger tracer. That will tell her what her triggers are and will help her breathe better.
